Oh, this has been discussed just a month ago... embarassing! Many thanks for the link!
You are forgiven :)
But just a reminder to everyone....the search box in the upper right corner allows you to search only within the thread you have open.
Very handy.

Dear John, thanks for keeping up firmware updates.
Could you please check Media Bridge mode on AC66 with the following scenario:
1) Reset to Default Firmware settings as Router
2) Disable 2.4Ghz Radio in Wireless Settings
3) Switch to Media Bridge Mode and connect to another AC66 (AP mode) via 5Ghz only

The result is http server being continuously deferred from starting up, leading to lack of webgui when in Media Bridge

Thanks in advance

Its funny that I read this JUST AS I AM TINKERING with a AC-66u (a1/mips).
Merlin Operation Mode:Media Bridge Firmware:380.70 ac66_24G
I wanted to check if there were DFS channels so i changed to AP mode and had to name my network so I tooks some random name AC66_24G & AC66_5G as I though it would not be available anyway when going back to Media Bridge.

When gocing back to MediaBridge mode my "wifi" settings disapeared as usual (as its locked to the APs 5G i connected to and will not act as repeater for 2.4G or anything like that)
On the top of the HTTP interface it said the normal FW ver and so on BUT ALSO MY 2.4G name??? as below - NOTE THE LAST PART - Why is THAT displayed, my "old net" from being a router?
Operation Mode:Media Bridge Firmware:380.70 ac66_24G

When i clicked "ac66_24G" i was taken to Wifi settings (that was not available in the menus - so call it a "back door") for 2.4GHz and could change stuff around.
BUT when i selected 5GHz from the drop down, the webGUI went into a LOOP constantly re-opening the page (I had to type IP adress manually in web browser adress field in chrome to make it stop)

I guess since You disabled 2.4G - You might end up in some odd situation, similar to what i did above when selectiong 5GHz network?
Anyway it feels very related :)

Yesterday I switched back from regular Merlin to Johns Fork for testing a vpn-client problem.
I flashed the router with the Asus Recovery Tool and did a factory reset afterwards.
I dialed in all my settings and much later enabled DoT... which didn't worked with the client-vpn. And now I can't disable it anymore. I can't click the Apply button at all. It is getting blue if I am hovering over it but doesn't do anything when clicked. Also deleting the vpn-client didn't help. Now I have to reset the router again.

Just tried it here on my RT-AC68U and it works fine. Browser problem?

I won't be able to check things for a couple of weeks (traveling to take care of my father).
But if the http startup is being deferred, it means the LAN is unable to start. Double check that your ip address and netmask are setup correctly.

I always do a factory reset before doing any router mode change. It wouldn't surprise me if there is a bug in changing between non-router modes on-the-fly, and quite frankly I'm not inclined to spend a lot of time trying to track it down.

There is something amiss with your SSID names (they are not showing in the banner)

@john9527 Where would the error been shown? I did a factory reset and dialed everything in again so no error at the moment. Maybe I can save all the settings and try to provoke it.

In that case, bring up the browser console with F12 and post any errors.
load the page, then hit F12 to start the brower console. Try to hit 'Apply' and any errors will be shown in the console window.

@john9527 Ok, here we go again:

So what I did before and applied successfully:

Now I am stuck again. Will try to load the nvram settings: which worked! :)
Tried again and the reason is: I selected to many servers.

Did you try and select all the servers? I can't test to confirm it right now, but I suspect there is an html quirk where if you select all, it's not setting the index values correctly.

Can't quite nail it down. I think something goes wrong after applying a list that contains the dns.cmrg.net servers. The "Primary" entries seem to disappear and then things get weird.

Nice diagnostics work! I think I see the problem.....
I use the ip4 address and port as the key for marking selected entries. For dns.cmrg.net, the Primary and Secondary servers use the same address and port....the differentiation is the public key.
I'll try and gen a test build for you to try.
