I'm having an issue with a wifi delay after two android (Google Pixel) phones go to wifi powersave mode (I think, not sure, see below).

I've noticed this too after the android P update. It happens sometimes randomly. I have an ac68U. I think this is related to android P changes. It started after that.

I must admin, I'm baffled....as doing an nvram erase followed by a reboot is exactly the same as a factory default reset.

The web gui loading without images is usually a symptom of a mismatch in the browser cache or with the HTTPS cert (many browsers will change HTTP access to HTTPS automatically if you used HTTPS in the past....drives me crazy!). So I think the missing step would be to clear your browser cache/cookies.

So I just did not think its neccessary to note about. I have never enabled HTTPS for router login as well (still used 374.41 so you know I have not touched this router for a long time .

The pages without images were only the QIS pages. Other than that, the webGUI showed normally and worked correctly, but they were just slow to open. Not too slow, but instead of 2-7s, it took 15-30s or up to 1 minute.

Hello All,
Having a little trouble with the Openvpn server on a RT-N66 device. The problem seems to be the connection remains open after the client goes idle and disconnects from the client side. When I try to reconnect the server does not respond. When I check the server it says the client is has never disconnected and been connected continuously until I restart the server. Here is the log from prior to connecting then connecting, going idle then being unable to connect from 4pm until getting home and logging in.

It will be a little while before I can test it, but try adding

inactive x

(where x is the number of seconds to wait before closing an inactive session)
to the custom config section.

I've been tinkering with this router for a few years now (refurb really lasted this long, lol).
Went from DDWRT to Tomato now Merlin on various routers.
Keeps my mind exercised.
If you don't use it you'll lose it.

Random disconnect with fiber modem.

I wonder that if I upgrade my router with this firmware, will it fix this problem ?

I 've upgrade my router to latest firmware from ASUS.
Using Cat 6 cable between ISP modem and ASUS router
having ISP technician came over to "fix" the issue.

can you log into fiber modem and watch disconnects in modem logs or statistics?
Dont think an update on router could help in any way if you loose connection to your provider.
Try a different proved ethernet cable between router-WAN and modem.

I've tried to plug my PC directly into ISP modem and access via default IP address.

I've tried Cat 5 cable before switch to Cat 6

I'm seeing something similar. I posted my details here. I am also using an RT-N66U.

33E7 works for me where as with 34E3, only the first connection is successful. I am also using android, though a different client app from the looks of things (OpenVPN for Android).

Your question of using this, John's fork, firmware fixing the issue? It might... But you will have to downgrade the firmware in the router to an older Asus factory version (300438420287) then use the recovery tool to flash John's fork. It will be a learning experience for you and you may experience downtime so have a plan to get to the internet without the router and read up on how to revert to older firmware. Doing a factory reset of the router and setting up from scratch may be the best way to start. And try another Ethernet cable between the modem and router. Even a new cable can be bad. CAT 5e or CAT 6. Good luck!

You would need to setup a PPPoE connection in Windows for that to work.

Trung, you should leave the ISP modem and connect Asus router as an assistant wifi router so that
- when the Asus one goes down, you still have wifi from the ISP modem
- when the ISP modem goes down, the ISP technicians can just come and replace their modem without having to touch your Asus one.
