Fully working stock AC68P (FCC ID AC68UV2 ). Downloaded recommended latest Merlin RT-AC68U_384.6_0.zip. Installed from admin panel over ethernet. Reboot it. When it comes up I try to login via ethernet 192.168.1.1 and see the following page:

Settings have been updated. Web page will now refresh.
Changes have been made to the IP address or port number. You will now be disconnected from RT-AC68P.
To access the settings of RT-AC68P, reconnect to the wireless network and use the updated IP address and port number.

Problem is, neither WIFI indicator is lit up and no WIFI is being broadcast. I tried pressing the WIFI on/off button but WIFI doesn't turn on. I did a factory reset, same thing. Now I can't get into the router. Is there a different LAN IP it defaults to with latest Merlin? Have a feeling the v2 is different.

The default settings to login are usually on a sticker on the router itself.

Connect your pc directly to the router with an ethernet cable (if you haven't already). Make sure the pc network settings are set to 'Obtain an IP address automatically' and 'Obtain DNS server address automatically'. Wait for the ethernet connection to be established. If you check the network properties your pc should have received an IP address in the 192.168.1.* range and the DNS server should be set to 192.168.1.1. Now clean your browser cache and try connecting to http://192.168.1.1 or http://router.asus.com and see if that works.

Thanks for both replies. After the 30/30/30 hardware reset bricked it I found out about this reset technique for ac68p:

(1) physically turn off the router
(2) press WPS button and keep it pressed
(3) turn the router on with WPS button pressed for 5 sections after router powers on
(4) release WPS button

It did a full reset and now boots up with WIFI on latest Merlin.

No I can dump my 87r bloathog. I'll report how 1.4ghz OC goes with a USB fan I feel pretty certain it works as well as 1900p.
