If u are basic user... sticking to the new stock firmware is fine. The Merlin is still a beta firmware with some bug on and off. If u are adventurous and want extra features like ad block, better firewall etc.. then hop on to the Merlin asuswrt wagon. But don’t complain u having lots of bug coz u are expected to help in debug. Haha..

P.S. Personally I find your attitude/comment quite disgusting. But don’t complain u having lots of bug coz u are expected to help in debug. Haha..
I'm proud to see a lot of signatures mentioning my scripts. So I occasionally let my eyes wander below the musings, predicaments or findings of members.Ahh the dreaded debate about if it is good practice to even include such info in a signature!.
Actually my RT-AC56U is a test router and flips between Official Asus firmware and any variation of available newer firmwares for testing, so I got lazy in keeping track on the forum (like anyone would care or notice|)
However, one of my relatives is still on 380.66_6 but easily has uptime periods of >150 days and refuses to let me upgrade it in case it reduces his stable connection despite my concerns about security patches.![]()
Apology for my comment, I misread the version. Yes 380.69 is stable. And 382 is beta for selected models.Incorrect. The 380.69 firmware is not Beta, and the 382.xx branch is only officially marked Beta for selected models.

Thanks for you answer!I need of Merlin for configuring my Openvpn client (IPVanish doesn't work with stock firmware), my doubt is about the change from a newer fw (384) to an older (380). Can I have some issues?Readme file tells about problem on my router with FW older than 378 but it does not say nothing about FW newer than 380...
