Frustration with RT-BE88U and SmartDevices

I have the impression that the latest FW released by asus (this week) has lots of major changes in opposit if the latest Merlin version which was based on some (very) old GPL.

I think I'm going to give the net asus stock FW a try with a full reset too

So I had the time to play around with the new firmware, but no luck for getting the guest iot to work. None of my devices wanted to connect.
I tried different setups: iot both same subnet and not , custom wifi network both allow intranet access and not.

All iot devices linked within seconds on the primary wifi network. But that is not really what I want :(
All tested with the latest stock FW and reset settings.

I thing I noticed, guest network doesn't broadcast if you have only 1 wifi band enabled. Thus you need 2.4 & 5Ghz enabled to have it broadcasted

Hopefully someone has ideas to get the IOT seperated?

Tossing my hat in the ring. Trying to upgrade from a AC3100 to BE88U with several ESP based IOT devices on guest network. Running Merlin 3006_102.3 and did a full reset/reboot 3 times and config per an older L&LD Instruction renaming all SSID's. Got both 2.4 main and 2.4 guest on WPA2. Wireless Professional page is pretty much same as what I had the 3100 configured. Disabled all Wifi7 stuff. Got them all connected finally but wireless seems very unstable with many disconnects. Something else that I am running into is that the GUI on the BE88U is VERY SLOW at times and sometimes just quits responding. I can look at CPU load and all 4 cores will be less than 10% (usually less than 3). Log does not seem to be overburdened. Something else that has happened on at least 4 occasions is it will not log me into the GUI (from a wired PC) when I know I am entering the correct username/password combo. I reenter verifying again that I got them right and still no log in. Not ready to say the router is the problem, as my IOT setup is pretty broad, but it did work fine on the AC3100 for years. Going to put the BE88 back in service today but my biggest issue now is I am not seeing how to give the Guest IOT Network access to the Intranet? My goal is to isolate them eventually but right now the IOT devices need access to my wired Raspi/MQTT broker as I have my IOT devices on the main 2.4 SSID until I figure that out.

Do not set up your guest network after resetting, tick the "do it later" or whatever option it is. Once you have the router up and running build a "Customized Network" under GNP, then build that how you want it.
The default IoT network isn't worth the time.
