New Around Here
Hi All,

I have a samsung QX410 laptop with Marvell 88E8059 chipset for Gigabit ethernet, yet when I plug into my switch I only get 100Mb.

Now I am sure my hardware is good because I get Gigabit in Safe mode and I get gigabit if I boot Ubuntu Live CD etc.

I have tried using msconfig to disable all non microsoft services but that didnt help.

Safe mode appears to use the same driver as non safe mode.

Does anyone know how to diagnose this further? Its very annoying.

Here are the adapters if that helps:

that screen dump - is when you were using WiFi. It says the ethernet port is disconnected.
from your other symptoms.. a guess is that the device driver for the Ethernet NIC is hosed up. So uninstall, reinstall. If it's working - use Device Manager properties to check up updates.
Do Windows update too.

Yes I was using wifi. I guess I wondered if any of those adapters might be interferring somehow.

Re the driver, I have tried several versions, both from Samsung and directly from Marvell. No joy there.

:-(
