GT-BE- 98 PRO new purchase my experience

I have to say I was skeptical for this purchase. I have been seeing the problems about MLO not working, setting up static ip problems, loT devices dropping etc.

My experience is that this router is worth every penny. Hardware version is 2.0. I have about 48 devices connected. MLO network, loT and Guest networks set up. All working perfectly. No disconnects, rock solid. See screen shot attached. That my Pixel 9 PRO on the MLO network. It is lightening fast and has much better range than expected. All this is on the latest stock firmware.

I am really happy so far with this router. Absolutley no problems at all. I have all my devices with static ip's. Its on sale now at 629, better get it before the import taxes kick in!

Good to hear aa I have one on the way. When did you receive it and from what seller?

I bought mine last month and so far dual wan is broken and the 10g lan randomly drops out both of which have been reported to Asus.

So I see you have MLO Fronthaul For Clients turned on. I had it turned on myself with no problems but I only have one device capable which is my pixel 9 Pro XL. I didn't have any problems but others were having problems so I turned it off just in case.

Leave it on, works perfectly. I also have the Pixel 9 PRO XL

It's odd how some have nothing but problems with dropping clients, and others have complete success. Inquiring minds want to know...
Inquiring minds or not, I think you’ll find that experiences will vastly differ, simply because of the nature of the environments each is in, their specific setups, their clients, their nodes, their APs, let alone folks perceptions.

I think you’d need a much bigger sample size and as many variables recorded to get even remotely close to working out that equation. Even the exact same Router with FW setup, but each in a different environment, will still give you … a huge range of successes and failures. We can dream 😇

It could also be the experience of the person setting things up. I see no evidence of all the horror stories that I have read here. It could be a bad unit possibility also. I mentioned my unit was a hardware revision 2. Maybe that has some effect on outcomes?

I am also pleasantly suprised at the range of Wifi 7 connection to my Pixel 9 Pro XL. Excellent signal at 80 feet away from the router which is behind a steel door in an upstairs utility room.

No router should be so overly sensitive that one must have the exact perfect conditions for it to function at an acceptable level. No excuse for all the dropped clients and IOT device issues. Asus has had more than enough time to iron out the firmware. I have had many routers over 40 years, and some just function without a hitch within an ever changing environment, and then we have examples like this kodel.

Received yeaterday version 2.0. So far so good as changing one setting solves IoT issues. Asus should change that setting as default. At little touchy with some clients, but a few workarounds and every has been stable.

Please share the setting with everyone.

In UI, under wifi, professional tab, 2.4ghz, modulation scheme (wifi 5 ) change setting to "Up to MCS 7" The only other issue is some devices don't like wpa2/wpa3 setting so I put those devices under the IoT network as wpa2 (only) seems this router is very stingy putting some devices on the wpa2/wpa3. The setting above fixed 97% of my IoT client issues.

Is anyone using the AI protection on their BE 98 PRO?
I just turned it on. Supposed to be comercial grade for the BE-98 PRO.

I do and no issues!. I have Wi-Fi 7 all bands turned on and no issues. Have not turned on MLO yet as I don't want to push my luck. That's for another day. Also I have no need for mesh so I can't give any review on a mesh network.

If any of you purchased from Best Buy after December 1st the prices on many items including this router have dropped and you can get customer service to refund the difference back to you thru Jan 14th.
