GT-BE98 Pro or wait...

I am seriously contemplating upgrading from my Asus GT-AXE11000 to the GT-BE98 Pro. I already have a few Wifi 7 clients so I would benefit from it from that perspective.

The ONLY thing holding me back is wondering if Asus will release a new flagship Wifi 7 router later this year?

At this time Asus hasn't announced any other higher end model. I don't see what more they could add since Broadcom hasn't announced any new CPU so far, beyond going with 5 radios instead of 4 (2.4, 5GHz, 5GHz, 6GHz and 6GHz). Which would make little sense IMHO, and be something above $1000 USD.

I am waitting for Asus WIFI7 with 2.4G, 5G-1, 5G-2, 6G-1. 6G-2 . all 4x4. routers. in my house setup, only 5G wireless backhual performs the best.

I just got it today and I have to say the bandwidth is massive improved but the coverage is still not so much to be honest. I thought I could use only 1 router and another router as an access point but not really I still have to stick with 3 units for my setup. The MLO is impressived but some device like Fire TV Stick 4K 2nd Gen can't connect but Fire TV Cube 3rd Gen no issue. Too bad that RT-BE88U doesn't have 6Ghz band. It would be great if it has I can replace it with RT-AX89X.


Don't wait the price won't be reduce much I have been waiting for 6 months and the price still the same. lol Even the July 4th there is no good deal for it. And I think it will be like this for another 1-2 years.

Don't touch this beta product.... Asus release a router full of bug and take 6 months to release first update.... They just don't care to update it once sell and take your money!

Depends if the issue is with the equipment or the person operating the equipment. If the firmware is as bugging as people are saying it is, then returns would be common. It's Amazon, if you don't like it, send it back.

There is nothing much to like on a brand new overpriced early Wi-Fi 7 product running a brand new early development firmware and with few available Wi-Fi 7 clients. Previous flagship GT-AXE16000 still runs on Asuswrt 4.0 firmware. There are obviously issues with Asuswrt 5.0 not limited to Wi-Fi 7 products only. As usual, rushed to the market to beat the competition in somewhat working condition with potential fix later, if it ever happens.

Please wait. These Wave 1 Wifi7 of beta products are really worthless. All forums of all manufacturers are flooded with complaints about Wifi7 compatibility and MLO not working.
Within 6 months their successors will be announced or you will get later hardware revisions with bugs fixed. Even software will catch up. Now it’s just a glorified beta test and firmware bugs.
So please wait!

Agree - and ironically, the more expensive the model, the fewer updates it seems to get - despite usually being the most complex and bug ridden models. You can find $200 models that have gotten 5 or 6 updates in their first year and powerhouses like the BE98 Pro that have had something like 2 over 6 months apart, despite costing $800.

I got the GT-BE98 but decided to return it, the wireless signal is too unstable and the coverage is slightly lower than the GT-AX6000. Came out too immature in my opinion

What internet speed do you pay for? & what speeds are you getting wireless on what band. I have had the GT-BE98 for roughly one month and get constant 1.8Gbps on 2Gbps connection using 6GHZ. The signal strength is also really good and cover my entire house which is roughly 2500sqft

The five should be 2.4, 5 (320 MHz), 6-1, 6-2, and 6-3.

The 5 GHz band does not support 320 MHz, and I'm not sure where you'll get the frequencies for that third 6 GHz band.

5 Ghz band supports max 240 Mhz Channel width.

I would say 5GHz band supports reliably up to 80MHz wide channels. The rest is DFS testing your luck situation to limited number of 160MHz capable clients and some of them don't even need the extra bandwidth. The result is not only reduced reliability, but also shortening the usable range.
