I am replacing my old WHR-G54S flashed with tomato and has been great but in the last 2 months its having a lot of problems.
Looking up google, time out on connect and things like that, I replaced it with an old dlink and all the problems went away.
So I just picked up one of the new WZR-HP-G300NH. I know people say oh its got wrt installed but I am not impressed with their layout and not bandwidth realtime or monitoring I can find.

Can the WZR-HP-G300NH be flashed with tomato?
What about the sharing on the usb port?

ps on the review pages it says I wish it had Guest Wireless Network. I see on the buffalo router page it says it has this.
Comments and where the heck do I set it up?

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe Tomato is only for routers with Broadcom chips. The Buffalo uses Atheros.

I never thought about the chip set...thanks for pointing this out.

as far as the guest account I am talking about the wireless guest account that you can set up to keep them off the lan.

I know I can do it on a dlink but I can not find anything in wrt about setting up a wireless to only get to the internet.

My God is the NAS in this think junk or the router or ??????

I decided to try out the NAS in this router. I dont' know what is going on.
I used a samsung F4 in an external usb enclosure.
After formatting the drive so the NAS could format it in its native XFS format.
YES YOU READ THAT STREIGHT. it can not format a new drive or partition it.
It can only format formatted drives.
SO I get it done and I had some movies I wanted to play so I copied them from my internal drive to this. I tried 1 -- 25GB file --- 4.3HOURS to copy
Yes I seperated the numbers to make it understandable with no doubt of error.
1 25GB took over 4 hours to copy to this nas.

SO I took the drive again formatted it on the computer as and NTFS to make sure it wasn't the drive or the enclosure or even the usb cable.
Hooked it up to the computer and it took 13 mintues over the usb.

OVERALL BUFFALO AND THEIR STUFF is just junk.
Not sure if its the WRT or the hardware or what.
I am talking to more and more people who are having crashes, lost settings etc.

And with the so called NAS built into this thing its time for something that works....

Buffalo has got its last money from me...this thing is a piece of junk( being nice here)

Weird, you had quite a bit different experience than me.. I thought the WZR-HP-G300NH was awesome... The layout is quirky, but then again I don't buy a router to spend time in the layout past setting it up, I buy it for routing and switching around the house.

You do have the option for the DD-WRT firmware, which looks prettier, but I proved pretty conclusively to myself via different tests that the Buffalo firmware is better performance-wise.

The NAS function is what it is.. I thought it was easy... plug in a drive, it mounts it and sets it up automatically and is instantly accessible. I never tried formatting an unformated drive though. The speed I thought was fine, basically just USB speed.
