New Around Here
I have Comcast internet service with an Arris TG1682G cable modem in bridge mode with an Asus AC88U router running Merlin's 380.65 firmware. The router seems to be unable to negotiate a WAN ip address and get a connection to the internet. A work around has been to clone IP address from my pc Ethernet nic into the router. I have tried power cycling both the router and router but not success. Tried older versions of the firmware but that also didn't work. Is there some setting I'm missing? I would love to continue to use Merlin's great firmware. I had to resort to installing Asus firmware version 380.4180 which allowed the router to obtain IP address without having to clone the mac address.

Keep the modem powered off for at least 10 minutes (some cable providers might require as much as 30 minutes), to fully reset your existing lease. Otherwise, it will refuse to allocate a new DHCP lease to your router because of its different MAC.

I had the modem off for various periods of time. The longest over 24 hrs with the same result. No WAN ip address. I don't recall setting up the router using my pc's nic mac address but the comcast dhcp just won't forget it. No problem when using any version of the Asus firmware. I will stick with your firmware and cloning the mac into the router for now. Hopefully some future update with fix this?

I have the same setup as you
Per comcast ter 2 support " these modems have an issue with bridge mode"
the cisco version of that modem/router is better
here is what I did to get mine into as unorthodox as it may look
PS: I did this 6 times in 3 days

1: reset modem for 30-35 sec
2: after you get the modem setup as stock
MoCa may be off of on
if it's off turn it on ,click apply
after turn it back off ,click apply
3: put modem into bridge mode
it should work now(watch wan light on ac88 go from red --> white
4: put MoCa back on(optional for hotspot feature ,but useful for me)
Thank you
