The RT-AC68R has been the best router I have ever owned. So you can imagine my excitement when the RT-AC68P became available with the faster processor and improved USB performance. I bought one and my experience was not as good, even though I used the same settings from my AC68R. Network slowdowns, Internet drops during the night, poor VOIP quality. As soon as I saw the RT-AC1900P hit the shelf, I returned the AC68P immediately and we bought two of them. So far, the AC-1900P is performing as admirably as the AC68R.

So I would caution anyone considering the discounted RT-AC68P. It's being clearanced for a good reason. The RT-AC1900P seems to be the new sheriff in town.

ac68u, ac87u has flaws in the design.

RAM is needed when it comes to connections but in terms of throughput that just relates to CPU and the ports. For 300k connections it doesnt really need much ram as this isnt BGP.

I often see refurbished RT-AC87u. That is interesting.

I have been using the RT-AC68P with zero issues and I have not seen a pattern of posts here with people having any specific issue with it. Maybe you just got a dud.

Possible, but it happened on two units. Mr. Tim Higgins wrote a very thorough review that comments on some of the disconnections I experienced with the RT-AC68P.

It happened to both units at two different locations, so that was enough to influence our decision to ditch it in favor of the newer model.
