;) Thanks for suggestions but I'm looking for a cheaper vps because I run only a website and don't want to spend more than $4-5 / month, this tutorials are just a hobby for the little free time I have, all expenses are on me and I do not want to enable some advertising service that would ruin the site :)

Then you're looking at just a webhost. I could recommend Funio, which has been hosting my websites for many years already. We also rented a dedicated server from them for nearly 10 years (before migrating to Linode 18 months ago). Very satisfied with their service overall.

Funio is an offspring from iWeb, and they are based here in Montreal. iWeb spun off their discount hosting into Funio, and sold their dedicated business to a larger company a few years ago.

Your website - it's content at least- is great, it "needs" to stay online, will help you as much a sI can, I also have some stuffs to provide regarding utilities I am porting to improve sec on arm routers -tools which are not included by opkg and such, which need cpan install... tell me if I can help.

You are very welcome to help me with some tutorials after HQT is online again. :)

You're asking too much for the general public of this forum. o_O

Along the same line, there is lightweight, robust and efficient way to do this. For many reasons, I didn't share and don't plan to..

True, true... and even if we prepared a cookbook recipe for folks to implement - well - I have a day job, and I assume others do as well ;)

VPS are a better investment (only slightly more expensive than tunnel providers), but require some pretty solid technical know-how to setup and maintain.

I think that's the big one - it's the skill set/knowhow ramp that has to be climbed up - but once there - having a full-blown distribution vs. a stripped down kernel and busybox is a joy - along with a rich repository of other packages...

That bad? Can you elaborate on the problems encountered? I was tempted by them to run a buildbot, but if they are problematic...

Server was automatically stopped :(

...wow. If a mere website can trigger that, I certainly can't run a buildbot on it.

Honestly, if all you need is webhosting, I wholeheartedly recommend Funio. They never complained about the load from my website, and it does get a few gigabytes of monthly traffic.

However if you want a VPS, be prepared to pay a bit more and go with something reliable, like Linode or Digital Ocean. Well worth it.

Server was automatically stopped

Yikes!

I suppose going with a VPS provider really depends on what they're going for - some just want to pack on accounts, and others provide a decent level of service...

I think chunkhost is a good vps (peer 1) .
I see they have a plan for $5 a month, they also re-reimburse you for downtime.

Moved to a new host, for the last time I hope :)
Please share a feedback if is reachable or not.
Soon I will post a new tutorial about installing Plex Media Server on Arm routers.
