Hi All,

Is it normal that the internet speed drops when you have Skynet on?
Here it drops from 1Gbps to 320Mbps.

If there is something I can do to improve this so the speed will go up again let me know.

Code:
Router Model; GT-AX11000
FW Version; 388.8_2 (Jul 31 2024) (4.1.51)

AIProtection is also on. Disabled it didn't changed the speed.

I can saturate my symmetrical gigabit connection and get 3.3Gbps+ wirelessly using Skynet and Diversion. I hope this puts to bed any future misconception these addons can affect your network speeds. I think your issue lies elsewhere

Seems that AI Protaction drops the speed by half... Is there something else that I can use what will work better?

No, QoS and/or AiProtection does, cut my SpeedTest results in half when I run a SpeedTest on the router. Didn't impact the clients (wired or WiFi) clients don't get impacted as drastically if at all.
Yes, run a SpeedTest on the clients and not the router or take a brute force approach and withdraw "Router web GUI > Advanced settings > Administration > Privacy" and or selectively not use the features that impact your SpeedTest results when run on the router. I have found that enabling any native router function that load the BWDPI engine (AiProtection, QoS) will impact your results at the router, then again you can ignore those results and run these SpeedTest on the clients where it matters and where the CPU isn't bogged down if you want/need those features.

My AX88U 1GB Fiber 945Mbs, with AiProtect/QoS 1/2 of that. Wired client 945Mbps regularly (depending on SpeedTest server), Wireless 5Ghz/160Mhz about ~650Mbps depending on SpeedTest server

Very interesting... Speedtest on router shows me 350Mbps when AIprotection is on. When I do a speedtest on my iMac (wireless) it shows me 450-500Mbps.
I always had the idea when you do a speedtest on router its best way to check the speed.

I like the OpenSpeedTest site...anyone know if this got drop or possibly in the works to make it AMTM in the future?

Or we can install without amtm.

In theory - yes. In reality - built-in speed test may show you CPU limited numbers depending on firmware options selected.

I thought this was all about whether routing was done with acceleration on or off--that 350mpbs was about as fast as these routers could go without runner and flow cache on. I'm on 1g/500m and that's what I get with diversion and skynet and hw acceleration.

That is all fine and good on a fiber connections, but you have to also consider when AI protect is turned on. Any time the router has to stop for packet inspection, you create an impasse or speed bump. While this usually is sound for a strong good fiber connection, it is not always the case on old cabling or non-fiber connections. Also, there is the limitations of the CPU on the Router at this point.

BTW, @Adamm I still support your script, and I would not label a significant speed reduction to be caused by your script in itself. I am more in line with thinking the packet inspection with A.I. Protect may be at play on these reports. In this case, each packet hits a speed bump. The CPU then takes over. A good fiber connection may prove resilient enough to bounce back, but a dilapidated connection running on old copper wires may prove to significantly slow down. In that case, the CPU is either the saving grace, or the kryptonite.

At either rate, users need to come to the realize it is not necessarily skynet causing this issue. I recommend each user investigate AI Protect, and all its constituents to ensure that no part of AI Protect is at play here. I will not say Skynet is 100 percent innocent. If you throw a big enough list at the IP tables, you place your fate in the hands of the CPU more and more, but the default skynet should not be causing this.

Did you test it without using a VPN enabled on the router?

I use it on a device to test, without a VPN, QoS, & AiP.

Hope it helps
