2.4 GHz: 49°C
5 GHz: 50°C

Its running 24/7 for 17 days so far. With around 11 to 15 clients connected.
Connected to a VPN server.

Hi,
My AC68U is always somewhere between 80-90° degrees - as no problem with this temps, so and not cooling needed!
I run Transmission on the router with 1 core always at 100% load and the 2nd on below 50% - again: No problem with this temp as the CPU is build to survive even higher temps - I recall that everything below 125° is OK.
With kind regards
Joe
Though it may be true that the CPU itself can handle those high temps the componets around the CPU can not and can fail. Asus has done a very poor job on the heat sinks and venting of the router they should not get that hot and need active cooling. The Neatgear R-7000 uses the same or very similar duel core chip and the router runs much cooler only around 60c with no active cooling.
