Hi all,
One of the main reasons (aside from AC speeds) in moving from the N66 to the AC68 was its Time Machine capability. However, I am finding that it is very unreliable. Let me explain...
After a period of time (sometimes a week, sometimes a month), I'll get an error on my Mac saying that it can't back up to Time Machine. I go into the TM config on my Mac, and the drive is still showing up, but if I reselect it, TM thinks there's no existing backups. Once this happens, there's absolutely nothing I can do except for starting up a new backup. Either I have to format the drive, or it'll be half full with my old backups that my Mac apparently can't read.
For example, this just happened, and now it's "preparing backup" like its the first time, with 266GB out of 500GB available. No change to my Mac config. No change to my router config.
I have tried to perform the backup locally, then move it over to the router. It essentially the same issue: TM doesn't see the existing backup. So I have to do the entire thing all over again via the network.
For me, right now, Time Machine on the AC68 is more of a hassle than a benefit. And that's disappointing.
