Im wondering if it is possible to use openvpn client on the 2.4 ghz band and let the 5 ghz band be used as regular.. want to use netflix in the us and still have a network on my comp with high speed.

Or is it a feature that could be added?

The VPN client connects from the router to the WAN. It has no notion as to through which radio the LAN traffic is coming from.

It might be possible to setup something through ebtables (since wireless interfaces use different network interfaces), but I have no idea how (and if it would work). Basically you'd want traffic to/from eth1 through the VPN, and eth2/br0 through the regular WAN.

Dual Gateway Open VPN

Look at the custom dual gateway firmware that Sabai Technology offers on selected routers including the ASUS N66U.

If you want to know how to do it without WPA encryption on the SSID then let me know.

I don't have an answer for you, but maybe if you post the steps you took somebody else might know what to change or add so that WPA encryption would work.

I have figured out a way to get this to work. Here is the thread that gives a real quick run down on how to do it. I am going to post a wiki on github that explains it in more detail as well as how to do it with the JFFS user scripts.

I used a guest SSID on the 2.4 Ghz radio but if you replace wl0.1 with eth1 (2.4Ghz radio) it should work.

Let me know if it helps or you have any problems.
