This is incorrect. The laptops Linksys shipped with the EA8500 and Xiomi phones Amped Wireless shipped with the RTA2600 had QCA 1x1 adapters for MU-MIMO testing.

Manufacturers ship a second router, to be configured as a bridge, to test 4x4 maximum throughput.

Thanks Tim for the correction. So in my eyes still beta to me. Everyone has there own opinion on things.

At this time I would still have to recommend an AC1900 router. IMO AC2400 and AC3200 routers are still in BETA form.

AC1900 is where the market really landed for the higher end Wave 1 -

While I wouldn't call all AC2400/AC3200 devices beta per se, it's not clear where the market is going with two competing formats... (QTN based 4 stream devices vs. Broadcom's X-Stream are the most common there)

But since a majority of AC class clients are single stream (handsets) or two stream (AC867) on laptops/tablets - yes, there are three stream devices out there, but I haven't seen any 4-stream client adapters in common use, so an AC1900 class device is generally more than enough..

Generally, I think that the AC2600 class MU-MIMO Router/AP's will likely win that battle if they can bring the pricing down to a more reasonable level.. because with AC2600 there is tangible benefit where the AC2400/AC3200 is more stickers on a box...

I kept the 87u despite the obvious rep it gets here. Knock on wood but with merlins firmware i have no droputs on 5gig, 2.4 range is awesome, no heat issues, solid wan and lan speeds. I too suspect that the 2600 is the next logical step. If Asus drops the ball and offers little support on the 87u this will be my first and last Asus router.

I purchased my Linksys EA8500 for $180 brand new from a well known auction site. Bargain of the century considering its inferior rivals such as Netgeat R7000, Asus AC68R, Asus AC87R cost more!
