I am trying to use my 8800L hotspot as a usb modem to my AX86S. I am using the latest version of merlinwrt but I keep getting disconnects from the hotspot on the router

Tried both the USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports. Any idea?
EDIT:
I got around this by using a USB C hub that has ethernet on it. For some reason if I power the hub with the usb C passthrough power port it makes the 8800L act up, but if i just let the MiFi drain its own internal battery it seems to work.
