I have 2 TM-AC1900s that have been converted to AC68Us. I do not need the wifi for one (device A) because I use an attached AP. The other (device B) does need Wifi to work.
Device A has been installed with 380.65_2 and working since about 3/2017. The wifi reaches expected levels just not quite as far as the attached AP in my plaster and lathe construction.
I installed 384.5 on device B and it stopped broadcasting 2.4GHz and 5Ghz is very weak. Basically what is described here (https://www.snbforums.com/threads/problem-with-2-4ghz-with-both-asus-and-merlin-384-x-firmware.45422). I have now tried these firmware with no improvement in range: 384.5_0, 384.5_beta2, 3.0.0.4.384.20942, 380.69_2, and finally a return to 380.65_2 and I have done a restore or initialize from the GUI after every firmware change. When I test I make it through the wizard and no other changes.
What do I need to do to return the wifi strength on firmware 380.65_2? And what firmware can I install and keep the wifi strength?
