@kamoj Tried again but still same error does not find the username or password.
Dear @jrbmw,
Your log shows that "auth-user-pass" is missing in the .ovpn file.

The add-on automatically adds this to the .ovpn file when you click "Read configuration".
And the add-on automatically save it when you press "Create/Save VPN configuration".

If you forget to add User Name and Password, the add-on pops up a warning window.
You don't mention you have seen that either. So have you really pressed "Create/Save VPN configuration"?

I suggest you try follow my instruction again, point by point, not omitting any step.
If still not working you need to provide your .ovpn file to me. You can do it in a PM (Private Message).

Happy new year @kamoj and all on the board.
R7800 running voxel latest and updated to Kamoj 5.5.13.
Followed your guide
Still the same so I cleared nv ram and started from scratch

nvram show | awk -F= '/^kamoj/ {print $1}' | xargs -n1 nvram unset
nvram commit
reboot

Followed your guide .Added password ... Still same result password and username not saved
I will send you an e mail.

If you run those command you need to uninstall and install the add-on again!
If not, you will sure get all kind of weird issues.
Those command are to clear the configuration from all kamoj addon parameters,
after you have uninstalled it.

Roger that, but next time clear it AFTER you uninstall, please.

The uninstall process need the add-on to be untouched to work properly.
I would say it should only be used when you don't want the kamoj add-on ever again,
and are to lazy to do a factory reset.

PS
I got your message, and the configuration file is a mess with at least 5 errors.
Don't know what ExpressVPN are doing really. I thought they were a very serious provider.
The add-on fixed those errors before, but now you need to do it by hand.

Did you get this configuration lately - or is it an old one?
Will try it out and report back later.

I downloaded it from their site yesterday. The configs work ok on individual devices.
Sure, the config you sent to me is for Windows, and can not be run in a router.
Do you have a choice to download a configuration for Linux or Android e.g.?

I put the first config I sent you in my linux box and it works ok
Still it's made for Windows, and miss mandatory information like UDP or TCP.
It also uses old/obsolete directives, and misses new mandatory directives.
I think ExpressVPN should check their configurations, because they will not work with
coming OpenVPN standard/program!

I've checked your configurations and corrected to one that is preliminary working for me.
Also found out that ExpressVPN blocks the first jump when running traceroute,
so I need a fix for that too!

But now I must prepare a release to solve the adblocking error first!
When that is released, you can install it, and then try the corrected configuration file.

ok thamks @kamoj
I just tried putting a dozen configs on a usb stick openvpn-client
Read config put password in and same result.
All these configs worked in the past on the addon ...somethings changed.

I took your configuration file and followed my instruction to you, and it was working; a password file was created!
So something is wrong with your system, or my instructions.

When you erased all kamoj parameters, that included the passwords for ExpressVPN. (No pre-defined username/password exist.)
You must install the add-on again, and then for all your configurations do as I described earlier.
Or easier:
You can add an express_vpn.auth file to your USB stick, containing User Name (line 1) + Password (line 2) and in the .ovpn files,
change: "auth-user-pass" to "auth-user-pass express_vpn.auth"

But except from that, as I wrote above, ExpressVPN messes up the routing so that traceroute can not find the first jump, and thereby,
the supervision will think the connection is down, and restart it in an eternal loop. For now you can get around that by switching off
all OpenVPN supervision! A fix in next release will probably do until I/we understand what's happening.
This is what is changed in the new addon 5.5b. Before 5.5b the addon could not detect if the tunnel stopped working.

Reset the router to factory settings installed netgear firmware then latest voxel . Tried back issuses of @kamoj addon inc 5.4b26 which used to work ok with manual installation.
Same results as before. Doesent seem to be the latest code in 5.5b13 addon .....seems express vpn is causing the problem.
Perhaps if someone else on the forum is using express vpn they could comment .

Regards

Just a quick update, been running since the day of update 5,5b12. Almost a week and no downtime. So I think the "testperiod" is over. The update works flawless on my r9000.

Hey kamoj, Just wanted to touch base and say I have been using for a few days now and the new updates (5b12 & 5b13) are working great! No issues at all for my R9000. Thanks so much for your continued support and Happy New Year!!

Changes in kamoj-addon beta version 2022-01-02 5.5b14
---------------------------------------------------------------
- Minor fixes, clean up some logs.
- Adblocking: Fixed ugly bug introduced in 5.5b12: Adblocking was never started.
- Adblocking: Fixed faster start of blocking if internet is down at boot.
- OpenVPN Client: Fixed No internet for clients after switching off VPN with killswitch on.
- OpenVPN Client: Speeded up start/change of configuration.
- OpenVPN Client: Added information about start/stop time in seconds.
- OpenVPN Client: Improved handling of missing and bad configurations.
- Wireguard Client: Improved function for detection of ppp0 clients.
- Wireguard Client: Added information about start/stop time in seconds.
- Wireguard Client: Fixed No internet for clients after switching off VPN with killswitch on.
- Wireguard Client: Hanged if stop called when not started.
- Supervision: Improved not to trig restart during start/stop/change of VPN.
- Supervision: Added separate supervision parameters for traceroute:
This is to support ExpressVPN OpenVPN Clients (@jrbmw).
(Support may be removed in the future.
I don't have ExpressVPN and it takes too much time to deal with it.
Full support may be introduced again, since I got new supplier(s) of configurations/server info.)
*Max allowed time for each traceroute test
*Max time-to-live (max number of hops)
This is needed to be set to >= 2 for ExpressVPN OpenVPN
Please set this value to 2 in Supervision Menu before starting an ExpressVPN OpenVPN Client,
or switch off "Restart at DNS failure", and "Restart at connection failure".
- FAQ.txt updated.
