Well... AC1900 class devices are the sweet spot right now if one is looking for absolute performance - not going to see much faster than that based on common desktop client configs...
The AC2400/AC3200 class devices, not so much, even though vendors say higher numbers are better, in many cases, they're not...
If you can wait a bit - the AC2600's - there's only two right now with one in general availability, but now that BRCM and QC-Atheros have working solutions, going into Q4-2015 and Q1-2016, we should see all vendors deploy AC2600 at some point...
But that being said - AC1900 class is going to be very useful through End-of-Year 2016 and beyond...
