I'm looking for an 802.11AC access point that can run 802.3at PoE

I'm moving away from an all in 1 solution to better my current network and put the AP where is is actually needed instead of where it is close to a phone socket for ADSL.

The ubnt AC AP Pro is one unit being considered, the need to run a controller to configure it is a minor annoyance, as i'd prefer something self contained.

The more radios the better.

Are there any other devices in the sub AUD $300 price range that i could consider?

Thanks for reading.

the number of radios dont matter, it really depends on your traffic density. If you have enough traffic within a small area than you could use 2 5Ghz radios but that would really be a lot of traffic.

Using a consumer router as an AP is reliable as well and some will mention POE adapters.

The more radios idea is so the AP can double as a wireless bridge for one particular client i'd like to give more speed to.
I'm not saying i'd rule out consumer gear, but where i plan to put the AP there is no power, thus that rules out anything not capable of PoE.

What i meant is you could use POE adapters with consumer wifi routers. Im not well versed with POE but im sure others can give you more details.
I've been running asus routers as wifi APs and never had issues although i would never use a consumer router as a router.

Better to get a standalone switch that supports POE - Router/AP's are updated far more often than switches...

technically there is a non consumer AP that has POE and can have dual radios. If you look at mikrotik routerboards the RB9xx series you can add wifi radios using miniPCIe although you are limited mikrotik branded cards. Unlike the AC3200 or 5300 you can bridge and distribute from the same AP. Since you will be needing antennas you might as well get directional for the radio you use for bridging.

What you have described sounds precisely what i'm after.
I'll take a closer look at mikrotik, are there any other units that can bridge and distribute at the same time?
Any idea if the ubnt AP AC Pro is capable of this.

An afterthought too, what kind of gear/effort is required to run a guest vlan/ssid on an ap?
