It might not be your (or my) cup of tea, but a lot of people pay extra to get RGB lighting on their router, mouse, keyboard, motherboard, etc... It's like those people who like to pimp their car - it won't make it go faster, but for them spending time on customizing them is fun.
Almost all of my computer items have RGB. However I disabled all of RGB. I don't watch computer parts but monitors.

Hardware-wise, it's basically an RT-AC86U but with an hybrid design that allows it to be wall-mounted (the base can be screwed either underneath, or at the back). They made it an ROG product, and added a configurable RGB light on it.

Yes and will probably be serious behind the "normal" models with firmware due to all the tacky ROG stuff in the firmware.
ROG = Tacky looks and slow updates.

I wish my GT-AC5300 was NOT a ROG product.
