Thanks again with all your support and work with your Merlin firmware. I am having this issue with 384.9 on my Asus RT-AC87U.
Upgraded from RT-AC87U_384.7_2.zip to RT-AC87U_384.9_0
recently and noticed a weird bug relating to Client VPN disconnection using private internet access.
The VPN connects fine but after a few hours disconnects itself to the VPN server and this is even after doing a factory reset on new firmware
I have now reverted back to RT-AC87U_384.7_2.zip and working well again.
I have even tried pull-filter ignore "auth token" in the custom section and still have the same issue. When I recently went back to 384.7 its all fine again.
Thanks just updated openvpn files from PIA and inserted the above into custom its connected but lets see for how long
Curious as to what they do2. Here are the custom settings I use and I stay continiously connected. I ran these settings on my AC1900P and now on my ASUS RT- AC86U. Most of them are as set from the downloaded ovpn file which is why it is important that you download a current set of files from PIA.
persist-key
persist-tun
pull-filter ignore "auth-token"
resolv-retry infinite
tls-client
remote-cert-tls server

I know I had some stability problems after updating to Merlin 384.9. I was using custom configuration commands suggested by others going back at least a year when PIA was touted as the fastest VPN client provider available.
In prior posts on this forum there have been suggestions about what commands to add to the custom setup to improve speeds. To solve the stability problems I started by using just the three commands suggested by PIA. I then added back several additional commands I had used previously. The additionas were the send and receive buffers and the fast io. Buffers and fast io would suggest that they could improve through put but it is hard to tell if they really have an impact and how much since you only control the client end of the connection and since a VPN tunnel's speed tend to fluctuate more than the connection to your ISP. I do know that my VPN connection is stable with the commands I posted and I am getting 95- 98% of my ISP's contracted speed when using a server within 200 miles.
My suggestion is start with the three commands that PIA recommends then add the other commands and judge for yourself.
