I posted about this before in a thread for an older Merlin release but I wanted to post again because nothing I do seems to work. If I manually select a channel for either 2.4 or 5ghz, it will eventually change. Does anybody know how to make it actually stick. Just to clarify, my selection in the dropdown will remain but the channel will change (according to my phone as well as the wireless log screen). Currently running 384.4_2 on RT-AC68P.

Every time you select a channel for either Wi-Fi band you hit/click apply in order to take effect and reboot the router. If you are having trouble with the WiFi I would suggest to factory data reset your router

My issue is only with the fact that the channel changes on its own. I generally change the 2.4 to channel 1. I can verify after I change it that channel 1 is being used but after 1 to 3 days it will change on it own. I have factory reset it and this issue has been affecting me for about 4 or 5 versions of Merlin. My issue is mainly with the 2.4 because it almost always changes to channel 6 which is frustrating because the next strongest router in my area is running on channel 6. When I originally posted about this, @RMerlin replied that I should try setting the channel bandwidth to 20, but that did not help. I keep hoping that each new firmware version will fix this but it never does.

Try to go back to a Asus latest stock firmware and see if it works if keep doing it you may have a harwar issues or maybe a antenna is bad for 2.4ghz is always recommend 20mhz all depends on the interference in your area

I wonder how widespread this issue is considering that it requires manually changing the channel and active monitoring. Could other people please try setting a channel and monitoring for a few days?

My selected 2.4 GHz channels are always sticky - only the 5 GHz channel can change as defined in the DFS rules (avoiding conflicts).

Unless you have specifically set the 2.4GHz channel to Auto it should never move channels by itself. I've never seen anybody else report such behaviour in these forums. As you have said that you have already tried a factory reset that leads me to think that it's a hardware issue specific to you.

I've always run my 2.4GHz band on a fixed channel with every router I've owned and none of them have ever changed by themselves.
