Merlin on RT-AX58U V2

Bojovnik

New Around Here
Hi,

Will there ever be development to add the RT-AX58U V2 to the Merlin firmware?

If not, does anyone know any custom firmware that works with V2?

Cheers,
B.

Hi,
Yes, I did read the FAQ before I posted this question.
Post#3 in the FAQ shows my question to be valid.

1. RT-AX58U is not a new router. It has been around for two years and V1 is already supported.
The Merlin wiki doesn't specify that only V1 is supported.
  • RT-AX58U
  • RT-AX3000 (use the RT-AX58U firmware)
2. It is widely available at the least in North America and Europe
3. It has a Broadcom chip
4. Asus regularly updates the firmware
5. Other routers have multiple versions supported

These are all reasons to argue for it to be supported.
However, I realize that other factors come into play as Merlin specifies in the FAQ (e.g. Time, motivation, etc.)

I am simply asking that if referring to my points above, is it planned in future developments or No.

How do you identify v1 vs v2 on AX58U?
Only from the back side of the router. I also ordered this router online and there was no additional information that it is V2!
So no chance to put the Merlin firmware.

Hi all,

hope this is not a stupid question, but as I still see the restriction to V1 of the RT-AX58U in the wiki... has anyone any news on V2 support?

I could perfectly live with the Asus stock firmware, however I just now exceeded the DHCP fix IP assignments of 64 machines.
Usually the Merlin firmwares had this limitation set much higher, i.e. to 128 on my old AC68U.

If anyone knows how to overcome this limit in the stock firmware, would also help me a lot,

Thanks
Andi
