Apparently a wide open backdoor in a router brand that's prevalent in China:

I enjoy purchasing from Monoprice.COM. They have excellent values on a variety of products and, for the most part, I understand it's a "buyer beware" issue. But that's true of every vendor.

They're selling a Netis-made ac1200 router and adapter for a good value ($125 combo, sometimes on sale for $105).

We have rather skipped over AC1200 but, with this security notification, I'm tempted to grab this and test the router out, once and for all.

The Netis equivalent is probably Netis WF2780, using Realtek chips in a 1x1:1 for AC, and 2x2 for N.
