I miss the old Win 7 Network Map View. For all it's faults, it at least gave you a quick map of your network topology. Now I'm on Windows 8 this feature is gone and I've had little luck in finding something to replace it that also shows unmanaged switches. Without the switches being shown the topology is just shown as "flat". So far I've tried:
- Sagemcom NetGuru (out of business) but their old trial SW does not show the switches anyway
- Networkview does not show the switches
- Netgean Geni is just sitting there "scanning" after several hours.

I'm after something that will generate a map like I used to get:
index.php

Could do (or just use an old Win7 Laptop) but the Windows Mapping did not place handheld clients on the map (so you can not see what AP they are on). I figured that a 3rd party app would do better but I can not seem to find one.

Thanks, I had a look a while ago and just tried again. It is too complicated for what I need - Just a network topology map of connected devices (don't need or want to authenticate with them and manage them).
