Asus is maybe releasing some new routers (ROG Ally Event 2024, on the 3.Juni)

Asus: Two new WiFi 7 routers are launching with AI functions and also fast Ethernet connectionsAsus launches two new routersAsus launches two new routersAsus is launching two new routers. The manufacturer is also targeting these at video gamers. Users should not only benefit from a fast and wireless connection, high-performance and wired networks can also be implemented depending on the model version.Asus also offers routers in this country. Under the TUF brand, the manufacturer wants to offer products especially for video gamers who want to benefit from a high data transfer rate and quality of transmission even with a wireless connection. The company is now offering two new routers in China. The TUF Little Tornado Pro BE6500 is the more expensive and therefore better equipped model. There should be advantages, for example, when establishing a wired network. The router supports several Ethernet ports with a maximum data transfer rate of 2.5 Gbit/s. As a rule, such a faster connection is not necessarily relevant when accessing the Internet; instead, fast network storage devices can make better use of their data transfer rates. A different processor is installed, so an SoC from Qualcomm is used instead of a Broadcom processor. The four computing cores clock at 1.5 GHz.The TUF Little Tornado BE3600 is visually different from the Pro model. The BE3600 only has four antennas, while the BE6500 has six antennas. Both routers support the new WiFi 7 standard. This should also bring advantages when used in heavily populated areas. The BE3600 only has a single Ethernet port with a data transfer rate of 2.5 Gbit/s. The maximum wireless data transfer rate for the BE3600 is said to be 3600 MBit/s, and for the BE6500 it is unsurprisingly 6,500 MBit/s. AI functions are advertised, for example for building a mesh network. In China, the routers start at a price equivalent to around 65 or 103 euros. Information on other markets is not yet available.

"A different processor is installed, so an SoC from Qualcomm is used instead of a Broadcom processor."

The article states the switch from Broadcom to Qualcomm, so no RMerlin support.

This is not Pro enough for me. I would prefer rubberized handles for better grip. 🏗️👷‍♂️

Who has the better SOC? Does Qualcomm routers support have a short life cycle like the phones?

This $110 USD product is actually faster than the $700 USD BE96 (not BE96U), likely because Qualcomm-based phones (8 Gen2/3) are optimized with the Qualcomm CPU inside the router.

BE6500 Peaked at 2100Mbps, where as BCM4916 based BE96 can only get 2017Mbps.

This $110 USD product...

Interesting. BE3600 suggested price is around $70, quad-core Broadcom 2.0GHz CPU with 1GB RAM and 2.5GbE port. This is cheaper than RT-AX58U.

BE3600 is significantly worse than the BE6500, according to the same reviewer.

PS: He actually tested those routers at various locations in his flat. The screenshot I included shows the speed you can get by standing next to the router. I will try to compile all the data to an excel file tomorrow and share it after after I finished the new Paper Mario game🤣

BE3600 is significantly worse

We have similar specs Wi-Fi 6 routers here for >$200.

I understand this BE dual-band model is region specific and mostly BE marketing but... nothing to complain about for $70.

I'm not complaining.
Just think it's funny that the entry level product can outperform the flagship (You can literally buy 6-7 BE6500s for the price of BE96). Also the performance difference between entry level products is huge, despite one being only slightly more expensive than the other.

Your advantage guys. This router will never arrive around here or if it arrives will be priced $299 just in case.

Well, you also need to spend 1,215 USD to get a BE98 in China😶‍🌫️ I got one for just £629 here in the UK with an Amazon deal a month ago. So not everything is cheaper..
