Overclock AC68U

I will be able to try 1400 in about 1-2 hours when the other other go to bed (so they don´t get annoyed by an eventual crash)

I've been running 1200,800 and it´s completely stable! 1300,800 too!

Edit: Does anyone know what AC66U can overclock to? I'm at 900,450,225 atm. and I want to push it to its limit since I will just buy the new AC87U if it breaks.

Edit #2: What makes you say that it runs at the same speed if you use 1300,800 and 1400,800?

1. 900,450,225 on AC66U? That's not possible.

2. 1300,800 and 1400,800 is the same. cat /proc/cpuinfo and openssl speed aes-128-cbc
 
So I have a "prototype"...
buying a RT-AC68U so I can still be a beta tester? :p

What do you mean 900,450,225 is not possible on the AC66U? It has run at that speed for days.


So you tested the speed difference between 1400,800 and 1300,800 and didn't notice any change? I don't use OpenSSL so I cannot use that to test.

Yea sure, just type in:
nvram set clkfreq=1200,800
nvram commit
reboot
 
Ok, thanks, I'll wait until I return home, just in case something go wrong. I want to add some extra cooling, just to be sure nothing happens, in high load reaches at max. 82°C at room temp 28°C

I asked about OC because i saw this message in Administration menu:

"Your router bootloader version is incompatible with Turbo (overclock) mode"

It says the same thing for me, don't worry about it :)

My AC68U's CPUtemp is currently 85°C with roomtemp at about 23°C when running 1400,800.

It can go up to 88°C and also down to 80°C
 
Had my first crash at 1400,800..... going to go back to 1300,800 and keep it there.

It was stable for almost an entire day.

OpenSSL is part of all FWs so you only need to run the command.

This message refers strictly to the Turbo button on the RT-AC68U.
 
Bootloader 1.0.1.6? EU or US?
 
I have already tested and i was right, you see those frequencies on "nvram get clkfreq" but at the end bogomips and openssl benchmarks still the same.

That means stock/default speed.
