i appreciate your help. all the settings u had is rly bad on me. with that kind of settings on my router it probably will drop within a couple minutes of youtube streaming. there are so many mixed results within rt-n56u owners out there. may i know which version u r running though? i always have the full version instead of micro, because i use transmission and media server almost 24/7. one user named 'Flak' did mention about the full version never worked so well for him/her and installed micro version instead.

I build my own firmware so I can cut out the features I don't need (IPTV, IPV6, Media server etc). If you are interested in doing so yourself use the following guide.

https://code.google.com/p/rt-n56u/wiki/HowToMakeFirmware

you're probably way ahead of me. dont have the confidence to compile it myself yet. thanx for the recommendation though. i do need media server and transmission. u dont have any plan to put your own build for the public are u?

This is weird... after installing the latest fullsized release and putting my router in AP mode I can`t find the router's IP address anymore.

My primary cabel modem/router is working as a dhcp server (192.168.0.1 with 192.168.0.2-3 setup as DNS).
My laptop is plugged into the Asus and its address is 192.168.0.11

So I expected the Asus to get its own IP address from the dhcp server as well but there is none

I used nmap
Code:
g
nmap -sV -p 80 192.168.0.0-255

Code:
Nmap scan report for 192.168.0.1
Host is up (0.0086s latency).
PORT STATE SERVICE VERSION
80/tcp open tcpwrapped

Nmap scan report for 192.168.0.2
Host is up (0.0085s latency).
PORT STATE SERVICE VERSION
80/tcp closed http

Nmap scan report for 192.168.0.3
Host is up (0.0085s latency).
PORT STATE SERVICE VERSION
80/tcp closed http

Nmap scan report for 192.168.0.11
Host is up (0.00078s latency).
PORT STATE SERVICE VERSION
80/tcp closed http

IPv6 config?

IPv6?

Question: What's the recommended settings for IPv6 with this firmware?

My ISP hasn't flipped the switch for IPV6, yet. I would like the router to be setup for when it does, it's ready. Also, all my devices are already dual stack (IPv4 & IPv6) so I would like them to be able to talk amongst themselves via both IPv4 & IPv6.

Recommendations?

Recommendations?

Don't have the Admin GUI front of me at the moment, but if you have "native IPv6 with DHCP-PD" from your ISP (like Comcast), as I recall, I essentially just took the "Native DHCPv6" choice, and everything on "automatic", picked the "stateful" choice in one place, and enabled advertising, hit "Apply", then rebooted. After while IPv6 started to work.

Take a look at the image attached to this posting:

http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/forums/showpost.php?p=60347&postcount=278

I was using settings very similar to those, and they eventually worked for me. Although I don't think that I was using the "Offload for LAN" choice for "Hardware offload routing IPv6", since I was just trying to get it to work.

If you don't have "Native IPv6 with DHCP-PD", then I don't know how you would set it up, maybe your ISP might have a clue for you.

OK, that's what I thought. Hopefully, if/when my ISP flips the switch I'll be ready.

I had set it up as 6to4, but weird things were going on, on my network. So I'll see how things work out now.

hey guys, im wondering why transmission built in padavan's fw cant enable uTP protocol. everytime i check the box, it will uncheck itself right away. anyone got it working?

I wonder if u can build it with transmission and minidlna. I know it can be done with opt/ent, but i hate to set it again since i have been running full version forever. Thanx again for the compiled fw

I'm really lost. Can someone please point me into the right direction.

As mentioned above. My Asus N65U has the latest padavan fw installed.

Since I put it in AP mode, however there's no way I could start the web interface simply because I can't find its IP address.

This is what I've done so far

Code:
 sudo nmap -sn 192.168.0.0/24

getting me only 2 IPs, the one of my main router and the pc I'm using right now.

I would expect the asus to have its own network address like any other device in the network.

hey adamm, the firmware i got from u get disconnected to the internet like crazy. any idea why that happened?
