New Around Here
Hi everyone,

First post, please forgive me for any mistakes.

I am setting up a whole home wireless network in a 3 storey house (basement - ground - top floor) and needed specific advice to my current gear.

Setup is as follows

I have a Bell Fibe Home Hub 2000 hooked up by Bell (Canadian ISP - getting 300Mbps symmetric connection) in the basement at approximately half way through the house but off to the right side.

There are 2 cat6 cables going to - ground floor back of the house left side, and top floor front of the house center.

I have a Linksys EA 4200, an Asus Ac-2400 (to be replaced by either AC-3100 or AC-5300 due to warranty issues), and an ASUS AC66. I also have a SamKnows TP-Link which I am going to try and get on stock firmware if I need to.

One of the rooms on the top floor needs a wireless media bridge for wired clients.

Currently the AC 66 is wirelessly bridged with the AC-2400 (has its own SSID) as the main router at the top floor Cat6 junction, connected to the Bell Home Hub 2000 (Has a different SSID) in the basement with DMZ to the AC-2400. Nothing is hooked up to the ground floor junction.

Need to know what would be the best setup for this application.

I'm a relative noob at this and would appreciate any help provided.

I am concerned that the Home hub 2000 might not suffice as the central hub for assigning IP/ routing. Should I add another to the basement to run the wired backbone and disable wireless on the Home Hub?

Which routers would you put at which locations?

Main aim is to get a seamless roaming network with max speeds throughout the house (I know about the client issues of not wanting to switch, but for this purpose assume that they will)

If you need more info to help me, please ask!

Thank you very much.

There is no guarantee that all of your devices will move to the "best" access point with a single SSID system. This topic has been debated many times. Success depends on the clients, Some will stay "stuck" to the first access point they associate with. Others will move.

And, please do not bump posts until at least a day has passed.
