Is it possible to expand the DHCP to provide more then 254 users on one router ?
Or how else could I cover a large area of about 500 people using Asus Routers ?
It is important for them to easily roam on the network(s) if 2 or more routers are needed.

Sorry for asking this ... but I like the asus Routers and I have several of them... and I don't want to really buy new Mesh type AP's if I don't have to as I like AUSUS and Marlins work.

Thanks in advance for your Thoughts ...

Just use a larger netmask than 255.255.255.0.

However, I don't recommend using those SOHO routers to handle such a large network. You really should look into more business-minded products.

If you did not take Merlin's advice " ...You really should look into more business-minded products", the link to the thread below is the type of surprise you may get using a home router for that many users.

Home routers are built for home use. Using DHCP for 500 users is going to create a fair amount of traffic especially if you have a short duration on the lease to reuse IP addresses. If you are going to try to use a home router for 500 users, which I would not recommend, you need to offload the DHCP traffic to a server so the router does not have to perform this task. Cisco makes plenty of routers which can handle 500 users. Talk to a sales rep for the latest and greatest.
