Using an Asus RT-AC88U with the current version of Asuswrt-Merlin, is it possible to configure the wireless interface to act as the WAN port ?

The goal is to connect the router to a hotspot using the 5 GHz frequency for Internet access.

I was thinking of using a media bridge/extender to bridge Ethernet to Wi-Fi.

If there's a way to connect the router directly to the hotspot without the media bridge, that would be preferable.

Wireless client mode is not supported.

A good approach would be to use a wifi bridge and connect it to the wan port. I have one that can be powered via USB port.
