Is the iphone dropping connection and then reconnecting ? If thats the case assigning a static ip wont matter.

How do I fix it? I am thinking the iphone goes to sleep and then awakes and reconnects.
Any ideas on a fix? Merlin any advice?

Whats crazy is my wifes iPhone does not do this. My iphone 6s plus does.
both connecting to the 5 ghz band.

Double-check that you don't have two devices with the same name as I've seen some issues with that.

"I have assigned ip to the iphone"

That's still using DHCP. You have to assign the static IP in the device and get it outside the DHCP range. Have iPhone 5 and 6 here. No dropping. Have them manually assigned in the router so their IP is statically assigned but is still dhcp, have IPV6 to them as well. No dropping.

Edit: Had to double check. The iPhone 5 is using 2.4. The 6 is the only one on the 5ghz channel.

Here is the fix:

LAN-> DHCP SERVER tab then click YES to Hide DHCP/RA queries

380.57 alpha working perfectly stable on AC56U. Running with openvpn client (2 clients) with policy rules, adaptive QoS, ipv6, usb hdd for serving media all running good as far as I can tell. Can't wait for the final version. Thanks Merlin.

With Alpha 3 on AC68 the Repeater Modus is not working.

Bug since Firmware 378.55

Do you realize that the issue is still there? You're just hiding the DHCP queries from the log...

I also have same problem with some Apple devices connected to the 5GHz channel, curiously not with all of them but I'm assuming is a bug in the QTN drivers... so waiting for new drivers! Until there, I'm on the 2.4GHz...

your right, I put on 2.4 and enabled the queries. Seems to fix the problem. Other apple devices OK on the 5ghz
channel not the 6s Plus. Weird.

Same issue here with the 3100. Alpha 3 - doesn't see the 5GHz network on multiple iphones/ipads but I can add the 5GHz network manually on them and it will connect. iphones/ipads see the 2.4GHz network fine.

In my log I find these entries every few minutes:

Dec 8 22:41:45 dnsmasq-dhcp[696]: DHCPDISCOVER(br0) 22:d5:bf:96:71:42
Dec 8 22:41:45 dnsmasq-dhcp[696]: DHCPOFFER(br0) 192.168.1.32 22:d5:bf:96:71:42
Dec 8 22:41:45 dnsmasq-dhcp[696]: DHCPDISCOVER(br0) 22:d5:bf:96:71:42
Dec 8 22:41:45 dnsmasq-dhcp[696]: DHCPOFFER(br0) 192.168.1.32 22:d5:bf:96:71:42

Weird thing is that the mac address is not known and appears not to be of any manufacturer. Also, the internal ip does not show up anywhere in the connections.

Any clue?

Two iphones here and a ipad no issues connecting or seeing the 5 ghz band on 3100 with Merlin 57 alpha3. using channel 157 if that makes any difference.

Hope to do that later this week.
And then Apple releases iOS 9.2, OS X El Capitan 10.11.2, watchOS 2, and Xcode 7.2 for which I need my internet connection...

So I'll really have to postpone further testing until later this/next week.

87U on latest alpha3, chrome to webgui.

I'm finding the openvpn servers very twitchy. I have two instances (one tap, one tun) running. If I reboot, neither restarts. I have to go to each separately, where the tab is already showing "on", and click "apply" to get each to start.

I assume I can put something in services_start or wan_start to start them again on a reboot, but shouldn't they restart on reboot if they are set to "on"? And shouldn't the tabs show "off" if they are not set to start?

I haven't gone back to earlier versions to see if there is a change in behavior, or to other browsers. I prefer to access the router when away through the VPN, not by opening SSH on the WAN side, but maybe I need to?

Enable "Start with WAN" on each of them.

I know Start With Wan is an option for the OpenVPN clients, but I don't see it for the servers.

Using alpha on AC56u.

I have 600/600Mbps line and I have problems whit 2.4Ghz, so max download on N is 25Mbps and upload is 100Mbps so makes no sense to me right? and if downloading torrent's speed gets to 100Mbps but if download from chrome 25Mbps, and if downloading torrent's basically 2.4Ghz dies, it just downloads and no web surfing and even windows is showing that there aren't any connection.

Tried Qos, it's limiting my connection on ethernet to 100Mbps when I have 600Mbps...
on 5Ghz works perfect can reach 300-400Mbps but again, downloading at 300 and upload gets to 400 and above, so makes no sense again to me. I think it should be the same for dwonload and upload.

Maybe some suggestions? oh and I tried changing channels.

That's right - the option was removed when I merged Asus's UI in. Just setting it to "On" is all it takes.

You can check your System Log for any error message. It does start automatically at boot time for me.

Yep - very odd. When I first set up the 3100 and flashed Merlin's firmware, there was no issue with the iPhones/iPads seeing the 5GHz network. I went away on vacation on 11/26 and when I came back yesterday, all my iPhones/iPads connected to the 2.4GHz network. Tried rebooting the router but the 5GHz network never appeared in the list of available wireless networks. When I went to "other" and added the SSID/pw, they connected right away. Not sure what is up or what changed.

I have tested for a while and found few thing.

1: GeoIP doesnt work anymore.
2: Double lined in SECURITY chain. (se quote)
3: In INPUT chain INVALID 'in' is 'any' use to be 'vlan2' same as in FORWARD chain.
4: In 5.0Ghz is missing Preamble Type long/short options wl1_plcphdr (Default is long)
