Probably my last post

This will probably be my last post, because I no longer have an ASUS router. I’ve sent my RT-AX86U Pro back, as I was having problems with the Wi-Fi, some of which I also had with the RT-AX88U Pro I had before, namely:

My Canon TS 8350a printer going offline nearly every day and sometimes more than once a day, despite it still being connected to the 5 GHz Wi-Fi. The only solution was to shut down the printer and then restart it.

My Canon Powershot camera being unable to connect to my laptop after a few days; the only solution then was to either reboot the router or connect my laptop to the 2.4 GHz network, i.e., the same as the camera was using.

Finding that trying the official 3.0.0.6 firmware didn’t even let me finish the basic setup before it would no longer allow my Honeywell central heating controller to connect to the Wi-Fi. I tried different SSID names and passwords, but it still wouldn’t connect. I even tried setting everything up from scratch a second time, after a GUI factory reset, followed by a reset using the push button on the router and then a WPS reset, but the same thing happened again.

So, I’m going to stick with the FRITZ!Box 7530 AX router supplied by my ISP. Yes, the Wi-Fi is slightly less strong, but I have none of the above problems and as a bonus, if it becomes faulty, my ISP will just send me a replacement.

You don't need to have or use an ASUS router to stay on the forum. I haven't used one in years (MikroTik & TP-Link here) but I hang around here to learn and occasionally help where I can. Yes, this forum is very ASUS-centric (pity), but there are also posts that are more general that can be applied to other brands as well or to networking in general. :)

A fix for IoT devices having trouble in WPA2/WPA3 setups was just pushed by Asus this week for Wifi 6 devices running on 3006.

It's becoming more Ubiquiti centric by the day and I personally think that is a good thing. Besides the forum is here for all kinds of Network issues as you say, it's disappointing his experience with ASUS, I can honestly say my non pro version of the same router and little Mesh plug barely miss a beat in my house. I only usually go into the settings now to do an update, or if I'm bored.

Best option for you and most likely people around you will be happier.

Indeed.
Might be , until he needs help and the tech at the ISP reads the help line script , then tells you that is over my head you need level2 support , hold the line please .
There is no perfect solution out there , the help on this forum is 10 times better than any ISP help no matter which brand router you are running

Separating the 2.4 and 5ghz networks usually resolves this for most of my clients (most of the ones I see aren't Asus). I mainly come across issues where the devices themselves aren't up to date, or simply aren't secure enough, so the router kicks them off.
