This will probably be my last post, because I no longer have an ASUS router. I’ve sent my RT-AX86U Pro back, as I was having problems with the Wi-Fi, some of which I also had with the RT-AX88U Pro I had before, namely:
My Canon TS 8350a printer going offline nearly every day and sometimes more than once a day, despite it still being connected to the 5 GHz Wi-Fi. The only solution was to shut down the printer and then restart it.
My Canon Powershot camera being unable to connect to my laptop after a few days; the only solution then was to either reboot the router or connect my laptop to the 2.4 GHz network, i.e., the same as the camera was using.
Finding that trying the official 3.0.0.6 firmware didn’t even let me finish the basic setup before it would no longer allow my Honeywell central heating controller to connect to the Wi-Fi. I tried different SSID names and passwords, but it still wouldn’t connect. I even tried setting everything up from scratch a second time, after a GUI factory reset, followed by a reset using the push button on the router and then a WPS reset, but the same thing happened again.
So, I’m going to stick with the FRITZ!Box 7530 AX router supplied by my ISP. Yes, the Wi-Fi is slightly less strong, but I have none of the above problems and as a bonus, if it becomes faulty, my ISP will just send me a replacement.
