problem accessing second router via openvpn

ok, my setup is...

isp router dsl3782 set to bridge mode>>>thats connected to asus n66u and has openvpn setup and working.

in another room i have an asus rt-n16 in repeater mode and to that my server is connected, inside the network everything is working fine, when i try to connect remotley i can access everything except the rt-n16, its odd that i can access the server attached to the rt-n16 but not the router itself, i need to access the router so i can turn the server on by WOL.

I'm pretty sure its just a setting somewhere that needs adjusting but i dont know what

Your post is confusing, it is not clear what device "the router" is. Can you rewrite it less ambiguously. If the N66U is in router mode call it "the router", if the N16 is in repeater mode call it "the repeater". Thanks.

ok,

isp modem in bridge mode connected to router running openvpn, in another room the repeater is connected to my server.

i have access to everything from outside, the router and the server but i can get into the repeater so i wont be able to initiate WOL, i can access the repeater from inside the lan

You would do the WOL on the router (N66U) not the repeater.

the server doesnt show up on router network client list, it only shows up on the repater to which its connected, the repeater shows up on client list on router and tells me that there are things connected to it.

i had a setup similar to this at a previous address and all the clients connected to the repeater also showed up in client list of the router

I see. Try just manually entering the server's MAC address into the WOL list on the N66U.

ok, i cant test it just yet as the server is performing a parity rebuild.

i think its something to do with a setting that pushes the clients on repeater to the routers lan

Are you using the correct format? e.g. 11:22:33:44:55:66
Yep, really odd, copy and pasted it and also typed in manually, it's 12 hexadecimal characters with colons.

Performing that on a tablet on screen keyboard maybe that's an issue

Let us know how you get on with other client devices.

It might be a bug in the input field validation, but Merlin doesn't support the N66U anymore so it won't be fixed if it is. I assume you're on the final version of the firmware, 380.70?

I'm on 380.64_2, the same version I was using at former address in same setup but could see the repeater clients on router, think I had some port forwarding or something prior to setting up openvpn on it.

Actually, this was working yesterday I remember connecting to repeater remotely from work. I didn't change anything.

You try to access the repeater using its IP address or a hostname (or both)?

its ip address, also by clicking on it in the client list on router

Is the repeater set up to allow SSH access and, if so, is it accessible by SSH? (I’m presuming SSH access is possible in repeater mode, because it is on my ddwrt Linksys Access Point.)

I'm Lan side now so I have access to it via ip ip addr, SSH is enabled and I can SSH into it

I just checked my system remotely (using 3G) and I can access my Access Point Linksys via OpenVPN on SSH and via the web gui; though getting the webui seemed a little temperamental but I need to double check that in case it was finger trouble. Also, when doing a remote network scan over OpenVPN (network 192.168.1.0/24) using iOS app Network Toolbox, the Access Point wasn’t always detected.

Not sure what that proves, but I intend to keep testing and will try from public wifi too. But, on the face of it I can access my AP remotely. (384.12 RT-AC68U)

Isn't there some sort of option to push clients from the repeater to the router LAN?. As it stands I can now wol the server and access it (it's physically connected to repeater) but still can't access the repeater.
