Hello,
I was hoping for new firmwares from Asus, but they haven't helped me.
My problem is following. I bought mine from Gearbest back in September, so mine is CN version. My AC86U unit works fine by wire, but when it comes for wireless performance... Every 2-3 hours all connected devices can't connect internet, but can be visible withing local network and can access router webui. After reboot everything is fine for a while. Tried all available firmware from Asus and Merlin same store every time. Tried even flashing firmware though firmware restoration utility. Tried to change wireless region on the router, nothing. Sent logs couple of times thorough feedback form in webui to Asus.
But looking though the forum I can see that everyone else have stable wifi with no issues. I am lost what to try next and hoping for your help.
Thanks in advance for everyone that will be posting here.

What is the exact FCC ID and/or registry number. I assume CN is for China? Have you tried adjusting the config. to change the wireless region? See thread here. Also, are you in China or some place out of the US? The reason the wireless frequencies are slightly different in different areas is becomes there is overlap with other standards used in other countries. However as long as you stay away from channel 1, 6, and 11, you should be fine no matter what. It might not be a firmware/region issue. Have you looked at what other wireless networks are around you and what channels they are on?

Hi. I am at Kazakhstan with region being setup as Europe at router. The thing is that I have problems with 5Ghz band too. For 2.4Ghz I am using channel 13.

Guys I really need your input... I am lost. Should I return it back to shop or there is a simple fix that I am not aware of. Will be grateful for your suggestions.

Did that. All they can help is "Contact the store you bought the router from and refund/replace it". No actual technical support. Disappointing really. So I am on my own now I guess....

Most companies will refuse to provide technical support for a product bought outside of your region, this isn't unique to Asus.

But it's THEIR product, isn't it? They are claiming about 24 tech support. What if will go to visit my relatives over the ocean and will bring piece of tech that is really cool from company I like, but unfortunately which is not available in my region? In the light of globalization and development of international electronic sales that policy is looking outdated.

Those multinational companies operate subsidiaries in different countries, which have different laws to operate within. Warranty limitations will change between countries, making it rather complicated. EU laws will require a minimum warranty that isn't the same in the US, for instance.

Companies such as HP would specifically mention if a device bought from them is covered by an international warranty or not.

I do understand current day realities. My post was just cry into the silence. Got really good experience with Asus laptop in the past. It was bought in US and I could service it with no problem at local Asus repair.
Anyways my last 2 Asus routers were bought just because of your support. Guess I will be sorting this out with Gearbest myself. Thanks anyways.
