So I picked up an R7000 to replace an old DLINK and although it is working great I'm missing a piece to the puzzle. I can not see anything on the R7000 network (192.168.2.x). I currently have the Actiontec @ 192.168.1.1 and dishing out IP's from .6 to .199, the R7000 has a WAN address of 192.168.1.3 and a LAN address of 192.168.2.1 dishing out IPs from 192.168.2.100-.200.

I have tried setting up routing on each of the routers with no luck. Both routers work great but now I need to connect to 192.168.2.129, from a PC on the 192.168.1.x subnet. I setup a route in the actiontec table: Dest 192.168.2.0 Netmask 255.255.255.255 and a gateway of 192.168.1.3 and still can't ping 192.168.2.129. Any suggestions?

If all you need/want to do is to extend your network set the R7000 as an AP. What you are currently describing is having double NATed your R7000 behind your Actiontec. Nothing wrong with doing this but by having each router in its own subnet you have effectively isolated the network on your Actiontec from the Network on your R7000. The only problem, as you have found out is making it possible to share resources between the two networks. It is not impossible to share resources between networks, but you will have to create some custom routing which depending GUI may require writing some scripts.

If you want to just use the R7000 as an AP search this site for the information on how to repurpose a router as an AP if your R7000 doesn't have a dedicated AP mode.

Thanks!!!!

That is what I was looking for, set the R7000 as an AP and everything is working.
