I'm having issues with my R7800 router. I'm using Brighthouse Networks and I pay 100/10. What I've noticed is that 2.4 ghz band will get me around 30/10 where the 5 ghz will get me 110/12. Hardwired to the router will get me the advertised speeds. I'm trying to determine if it's the current firmware the netgear pushed out 1.0.2.0.4 that is causing my 2.4 band to slow down?

Should I roll back firmware or just do a factory reset and see if that fixes it?

First, check that the channel width option for the 2.4GHz network is not set to 20MHz (only).

Second, use a new ssid (you can use the same password).

Third, reset to factory defaults with a minimal and manual configuration (as a sanity check and to know that the issue really is present in the firmware being used and not an interaction between current firmware and earlier settings).

I would keep 20/40 coexistence checked, if you have a lot of routers in your area forcing 40Mz on 2.4Ghz will not only make you a bad wifi neighbour but it will also cause issues within your own wireless network like slowing your speed down having packet loss etc. Unless you live in the middle of nowhere its best to keep that checked and many routers don't give you the option to play with that as its part of the WI-Fi alliance certification process I believe. make sure WMM is checked also.
