Receiving packets with own address as source address

My router is AX88U, firmware 3004.388.7
I am getting lots of
Code:
br0: received packet on eth6 with own address as source address
entries in dmesg output.

I would like a timestamp attached to this message. Is it possibile? The message shows only in dmesg output, not in System Log.

That's a normal message and doesn't indicate a problem. That's why Asus suppresses the message in the System Log.

Thank you.
Is there any way to check the timestamp on these entries ?
Or, even better, to see the actual address it is referring to ?
I need to identify the culprit device.

The message is only suppressed in the webUI display. So if you look at the source syslog file you can see all the messages. Do that either through SSH or by clicking on the Save button in System Log - General Log and opening the file in an editor.

Thank you.

Am I right to suspect that the br0: received packet on eth6 with own address as source address message is about a network loop?

I think the question is: "Is this a problem?". For that answer, my opinion is No.
My logs have them appear sporadically for years. When they appeared, I too tried to understand the trigger, tried to figure it out, but in the end, I never saw any negative effects, so I eventually used scribe and syslog-ng to filter them out.

YMMV, Good Luck.

No. At least not usually. It usually just indicates that a wireless device that's been seen before has reconnected. e.g. it's come out of sleep mode or roamed from one AP to another.
