Is there a way to check if the script is working on stock firmware?
This is what I currently get:
Code:
admin@RT-AC86U:/tmp/home/root# /jffs/scripts/FreshJR_QOS -debug
-sh: /jffs/scripts/FreshJR_QOS: Permission denied

Doesn’t seem like it’s working since permissions are incorrect.

Did you use the supplied installer?

You need the following

Code:
chmod 0755 /jffs/scripts/FreshJR_QOS
/jffs/scripts/FreshJR_QOS -install

Then plug in flash drive and then a system reboot.

Your undef flowid in debug should not be 1:17

Ive tried this trick before where i lower the bandwidths to small levels ...in this case went 5 and 5MBs.
Then gameplay became equal.

What possibly went on here?
My network doesnt have any traffic on it when im playing.....

Going that low from your ISP speeds should have terrible performance. You can’t go that far away from your supplied speeds.

If you are only gaming (low bandwidth usually - eg. not using full internet speeds) and have terrible performance, then it’s something else messing up. QOS won’t do anything.

QoS only helps use your internet when it is conjested.

When your internet is not congested, QOS is not really doing anything.

I did use the included installer. It uploaded the files, asked for my username, password, router ip, but didn't see this:
Non-RMerlin Firmware Detected
Is this installation for (Stock / Default / Unmodified) Asus firmware? [1=Yes 2=No] : 1

Creating environment to trigger scripts post USB Mount
Creating script_usbmount in /jffs/scripts/
Placing FreshJR_QOS into script_usbmount
FreshJR QOS v8.8 has been installed
make sure a USB storage device is plugged in and
[ reboot router ] to finalize installation
until I did this:
Code:
chmod 0755 /jffs/scripts/FreshJR_QOS
/jffs/scripts/FreshJR_QOS -install

Thanks i thought this was the case.
Baffled as to why gameplay changed so dramatically.
Didnt last long.
Today it went bad again but then i changed the levels to 1MB 1MB and changed back to the isp dns from the local google dns.
Now its back to good again.

Do you mind uninstalling the script and attempting to use the installer once again when you get some free time?

I just re-tested the installer and it still works on my end.

Perhaps it need some changes to work on stock-WRT, I am currently not sure.
Did a PUTTY terminal session ever open when using the installer??

Uninstalled and tried again.
No, Putty doesn't open, for me, during the install.

EDIT--Also still having the permission error, so I have to still do this to install:
Code:
chmod 0755 /jffs/scripts/FreshJR_QOS
/jffs/scripts/FreshJR_QOS -install

I have an 86u.

Hi there. Haven't installed Fresh JR yet but I did get around to installing Merlin on my AC86U, yesterday. I enabled Adaptive QoS, and this morning I just noticed in the Sysinfo tab under Tools that the HW Acceleration is disabled. I thought with Adaptive it stayed Enabled, and with Traditional QoS HW Accelleration was disabled? Maybe it's my settings but first of all I've never chosen Traditional and I've rebooted the modem several times since installing Merlin. Did a factory reset after the install, chose Adaptive QoS, Manual Bandwidth settings, fq_codel, selected Cable (DOCSIS).

What does it say specifically? Runner, Flow Cache, etc?

"Runner: Disabled (QoS) - Flow Cache: Enabled"

There are two levels of HW acceleration

-Flow Accleration + CTF
-CTF Only
-OFF

or in your case

-Runner + Flow Cache
-Flow Cache
-OFF

--

So yes HW accleration is still enabled.

Uninstalled and tried again.
No, Putty doesn't open, for me, during the install.

Can I send you a modified version of the .bat file for further testing.
(Maybe also try right clicking the current installer && run as admin to see if that changes anything)

There is a line within the bat that is supposed to launch putty!

Sure.
I actually tried to run as admin and it doesn't look in the correct folder for the files.

No, putty still not opening.

Do you have this version of putty

https://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/latest/w64/putty.exe

(taken from this page https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/latest.html Alternate Binary Files - 64bit: putty.exe)

are all 4 [x] boxes checked?

Yes, got putty from your link on the first page. Also, overwrote it with the version in the previous post. Still, putty not popping up.
Everything looks exactly as your first window above.

Just tried with a different computer. Same result.

Does the BAT script terminate with (Press Any Key to Continue) after putty does not open?

I just tried it on a fresh Win10 PC and putty launched fine.

Does the installer run via command prompt or powershell when launching it?

Does putty even open to the GUI if you do the following:

Code:
Windows Key + R
cmd
cd C:\whatver\path\to\script\folder
putty.exe

Maybe it's just me. Hopefully, someone else can try.
