Reliable Android OpenVpn

Good day,

I am a newbie trying to get a OpenVpn server running, which seems fairly straight forward at the router. I have a Samsung Galaxy 4 from which I have tried to connect to the server using OpenVpn Connect, which is available from Google Play, but the connection keeps timing out. Just curious as to what most Android people are using.

Does openvpn for android support connecting to your own openvpn server or is it only for connecting to a openvpn client such as kissmyass or pia? I am looking to connect to my own openvpn server.

i use it for my own server, from an epic4g

I imported the file created by my router and imported it into OpenVpn for Android. I am getting an error message of "Could not determine IPv4/IPv6 protocol. Any ideas?
