Router ip change page warning in browser.

I have yet to see it since using my new ac66, but when using my rt-n16 using merlin's firmware. I was seeing a page with the following message.

"Settings have been updated. Web page will now refresh.
Changes have been made to the IP address or port number. You will now be disconnected from RT-N16.
To access the settings of RT-N16, reconnect to the wireless network and use the updated IP address and port number."

The reason I find it weird is for the following reasons.

1 - When I first seen this page it happened everytimne trying to access a specific page on the router GUI.
2 - My router ip wasnt changed. I also was connecting via ethernet. Also my PC ip wasnt changed.
3 - I stopped using the RT-N16 for about a week and this page was still randomly appearing when trying to load internet sites, so yes I was seeing a message telling my RT-N16 ip had changed when it wasn't even plugged in. Clearing my browser cache and restarting the browser did not stop it appearing.

So what generates this page, why would it appear when the router isnt even plugged in and no lan ip's changed on router or pc?

You're not offering a lot of information for us to work with.

What firmware version of the RT-N16?

What OS is your computer? Have you rebooted it? What browser are you using? What other devices are on your network?

Have your turned off ALL your network devices, including modem, router, computers, printers, phones, etc. and waited about 10 minutes and then brought them up one, by one. Testing as you go?

Is everything up to date? What A/V are you using?

You may want to use ccleaner on your computer to make sure all the crud is removed completely (don't use the registry cleaner - just the drive cleaner).

That error page is stored locally in your browser using an HTML5 feature, and it gets displayed whenever trying to access a router's IP and the router cannot be found. This will vary between browsers, but some browsers have an option to delete "offline content" - that would remove it.

Sorry but I didnt find all that info relevant.

Rmerlin seems to have supplied a reason, although I did also see that page when accessing non router ip's.

But to answer your question.

win7 64bit sp1
firefox esr v24
a/v nod32 64bit

Using something like ccleaner may fix it but I was more curious as to why it was happening. There is no point fixing via ccleaner if its a problem that will come back again and again.

I have not turned of all devices as I cant see how another device can make that page appear in the local browser. Its illogical. The only logical explanation is some kind of cache issue (which merlin suggests) or the router sending the page but that went out the window when I was seeing it with different routers.

Reboots etc. make no difference.

so yes I was asking what generates the page, what determines the page should show. Not for a scattershot approach to turn everything off etc.

ok thanks, I manually deleted the files in firefox's offline folder, the clear cache function of the browser doesnt wipe those files. I now disabled the offline cache.
