Hi ;-)

I live in a 2-story house (1700 sqft). Basement + Main Floor + 2nd floor

My router is installed on the 2nd floor.

I get excellent signal everywhere in my house. Basically I get full strength everywhere.

My problem is that, when I am in my bedroom on the 2nd floor, the signal is still FULL strenght and I never lose connection to my asus, however, internet/intranet speed is often very slow to the point where facebook, webpages, plex, etc won't even load up.

What I don't understand is that my signal is still full strenght.

Any idea what could be the problem ? I was thinking of adding an access point in my bedroom (wired to my router on the main floor) but i'm hesitant of doing so because I fear that my devices would still pickup the RT-AC3100 instead of my access point since the signal to RT-AC3100 is very strong all the times.

Any help would be appreciated ;)

Thanks!

How are you assessing signal strength? If you are going by the signal strength meter on your PC/phone, that may not be a good indicator. RSSI and background noise are both needed to get a good idea of what's happening. The built-in wireless diagnostics on Macs can provide a real time plot of these values. WiFi Analyzer (free version) for Android provides RSSI. Not sure what's available for PCs.

Acrylic WiFi analyzer for Windows?

Worst case - use a different SSID?
