New Around Here
hi, I recently bought an AC5300 but after 2 days of installation, without trying to update or install any firmware, it was bricked.
now only the power LED is working, it can go in rescue mode but reflashing using asus tool doesn't work ( after the firmware is uploaded it goes from 2% and jumps to 100% and nothing happens afterwards ).
pressing the reset button or using the 30-30-30 method also doesn't work.

Please help!

30-30-30? DD-WRT procedures are useless on ASUSWRT FW.

More detaild need please, what FW / version was installed on the router? Whar FW are you trying to upload?

In rescue mode, leave it for a good hour or more. It is a slow process but should eventually work.

If you're trying things with it after it goes to 100%, you're not patient enough. :)

That processure shouldn't take that long on RT-AC5300 model, is has a NAND not a CFI, but yeah will not hurt waiting extra time. :)

it was on "3.0.0.4.380.3941" ( the latest one ) , I've tried to upload the same firmware.

I swear i've waited for at least 5 hours :(

Try TFTP procedure instead.

Not normal - might just be an early death - I'd return it for exchange, otherwise, reach out to Asus customer support for an RMA...

Well, that should have been long enough.

sfx2000 may be right then, time for an RMA.

That firmware killed 2 AC5300, I am on the third with Merlin's firmware, I hope this firmware .3941 costs ASUS a lot of money in returns and RMA's as they still have online, and they are not listening to their customers, stay away form .3941 if you want a working AC5300.

As long the Bootloader is still alive (Recovery Mode), your router is not bricked at all, I really doubt a FW is causing it but I can't be really assure of it, I can flash here and see...

After I lost 2 of theses I found SNB, and have read a lot, and learned a bit, I never knew about recovery modes only the recover CD that came with the router, I dare not try again just in case it sends the 3rd one back, but If you are willing be my guest :)

PS , still reading and learning :)

Regards

Then can you ping the router? Time to try tftp. By any chance were you monitoring the router running temp.?
