New Around Here
I spent 2 days searching this forum and other sites. I've had trouble with other manufacturers, Buffalo Netgear D-Link... Even with the Level 2 techies it was clear that correct pairing, within the same manufacturer, was needed.

Some routers pair better with some bridges. I need to install a wireless bridge in my family room where we have a "smart TV", Blu-Ray, XBox 360, Wii. Soon a DirectTV Genie. All except the TV have wireless capabilities. However, with the wireless adapters so close, stability decreases drastically. One device turned on and I get AWESOME performance. I've used a Netgear WNCE2001 but I need dual band to clear up the airwaves. Phones, laptops, etc.

The throughput on the WNCE2001 was inconsistent. One day, a good connection, one day no connection, one day too poor to surf the net on a HTPC.

Need: 802.11n, dual band simultaneous operation, multiple gigabit ports, streaming HD from the net AND a multimedia server. Compatible with RT-AC66R. I haven't enough positive feedback for the ASUS EA-N66.

2 decades in IT, not afraid of doing some customization or detailed configurations, but now a grad student in another field.

Any success stories? Bridge models with consistent performance.

BRIDGE: Powerline adapters don't solve the problem.

Does anyone else have any experience and success with wireless bridges paired with the RT-AC66R?

Thanks for the response. But powerline adapters aren't a solution as they are the very first option I tried. Multiple brands. But there's a catch. In a 20 year old house with wiring the same age, powerline adapters don't work.

They work, but on the same circuit with a circuit breaker on the circuit, the through put drops to sub 1 mbps. Consistent speeds were closer to .5 mbps and lower.

I worked extensively with technical support moving the adapters to different outlets, on the same circuit and across circuits. Even with older wiring, on the same circuit speeds couldn't be sustained above 1 mbps. We tested throughput on nearly every combination of source and target outlet possible. So, powerline adapters aren't a solution.
