I have a Verizon Pantech UML290 4G USB modem connected to the USB 2.0 port on the RT-AC66U and I'm getting pretty good download speeds of around 20 Mbps but the upload speed for whatever reason is really slow and I've tried multiple firmware releases over the last couple of months but I can't get over around 3 Mbps. In comparison when I have the UML290 plugged directly into the computer or into my Cradlepoint router I'm able to get 10-15 Mbps upload.

Can anyone else post your 4G speeds through the RT-AC66U if your using a 4G dongle or just your 4G LTE phone as a hotspot? Speeds may be fine when using a phone since the phone and not the router is establishing the 4G connection but I just wanted to check to see if it could be a problem with internet devices connected to the USB ports or whether it's just an issue with the driver support for my 4G LTE modem as most of the 3G/4G modems on ASUS's support list are ones used outside the US.

Here is my speed test on the RT-AC66U:

I don't know if this helps but this is from my iPhone 5 w/ a pretty decent LTE connection in "personal hotspot" mode, allowing my MacBook to use it over wifi.

I spoke with ASUS tech support again and it was recommended that I try turning on the Traffic Manager QoS setting and manually put in the upload and download speeds that I'm able to get with the 4g modem plugged directly into the computer. I did and saved the settings and now I'm getting a little over 8 Mbps for the upload speed which is a nice improvement.

Does anyone know why enabling the traffic manager improved the upload speed and why with it disabled I can't get over 3 Mbps? The only problem now is that enabling QoS means that it disabled HW acceleration. Can anyone think of anything else I might try to fix the speed issue without needing to enable the Traffic Manager and lose HW acceleration?

I don't have an answer to your question, but was curious what your settings are. I have been unsuccessful getting this USB device to work with my router. The ones ASUS support are only EDVO Verizon devices.
