New Around Here
Hi,

I've had the RT-AC66U for almost a month now. It's great. One thing I noticed, when I go to the firmware upgrade page It says I have 3.0.0.4.374_726-g10636e. According to the ASUS web site, that's one revision behind. The latest there is 3.0.0.4.374.979. Yet, when I tell it to check for an update, it says I'm at the latest version. Searched this forum for a similar problem but didn't see anything. I realize I could download it manually and upgrade (or try Merlin's version, which I may). Am I doing something wrong?

And BTW, I'm a UNIX/Linux system admin in real life. I love it that I an telnet to the router and see something that is very familiar to me.

Sometimes the firwares have upgrade bugs and cannot see the newer ones from the web. Just download the image and update. I'd recommend getting the Merlin's build for the AC66U (34). It has ssh, IPv6 firewall rules and persistant storage partition which you would most certainly enjoy :)

Asus does not systematically publish all new firmwares to the online update service. You have to manually download them from the support site if you wish to upgrade to the very latest.
