New Around Here
Hello, with search I found out that Asus routers do work with USB hubs but have not found anything recent on best way to do it. I learned how to map Asus connected drives so lack of GUI support in browser for more than 2 drives should not be an issue.

Do I need a powered hub?

Do I need to worry about data corruption without official support for the hub?

Will Merlin firmware will work better for hub?

Thanks!

They've been officially supported for about a year now. Hub must be powered, and must also be USB 2.0. USB 3.0 are not supported.

Thanks! Is there a limit on how many drives I can connect and on their size? Does current stock firmware with 2.0 hubs from reputable manufacturers spin down connected drives?? I'm thinking Sabrent

Number of supported drives is "high enough" (I don't remember the exact number hardcoded in the code, but I think it was something like 26).

Spindown capability is never guaranteed as it depends on too many factors: the OS, the hub, the hard disk's firmware, and the usb enclosure.
